Dealership sold me a bad car?

Tagged Under : ,

Question by : Dealership sold me a bad car?
I bought an 00 Jetta TDI from a dealership 2 days ago. I took it in for an oil change/tune up etc. The mechanic said the transmission was going bad and needs to be replaced. It slips during initial acceleration, and in 5th gear.

Also, the oil plug was over sized – trying to cover up the stripped threading.

Am I SOL? Do I have any options? I realize only a few states recognize the ‘used car lemon law’ and WA is not one of them. But are there other caveats? Unfair and Deceptive Acts and Practices (UDAP) laws? What am I entitled to with that?

Question by Johnny: Hispanics stage hunger strike they say will not eat until some results are shown even if it means death do you?
Hispanics stage hunger strike they say will not eat until some results are shown even if it means death do you believe they will do what they say ?
MABLETON – Two middle-aged Hispanic men are on a hunger strike in protest of Georgia’s new immigration law, and say they are willing to risk their lives to bring attention to “a hateful anti-immigrant law aimed at us and our brothers and sisters.”

The men, who live in a dilapidated apartment building near Pebblebrook High School, began their hunger strike on July 1, the day Gov. Nathan Deal signed House Bill 87 into law.

A native of Mexico who moved to the U.S. in the 1970s, Salvador Zamora, 49, who said he became a U.S. citizen last year, called the law unconstitutional.

“It was going to let any police officer stop any immigrants just for no reason and ask them for their papers, and that can be used in many ways to violate laws and civil rights,” he said.

But it’s not just the new Georgia law Zamora said he wants to see amended, but action on the national level with the approval of the DREAM Act.

Also participating in the hunger strike is Martin Altamirano, 45, a Honduras native, who said he moved to the U.S. in the 1990s on a work visa.

Altamirano met Zamora a few months ago in Washington after the former finished a 3,000-mile walk from California to the White House to raise awareness about immigration reform.

Altamirano, who has a daughter at South Cobb High School, works as a general mechanic, while Zamora said he sells vitamins.

Since beginning the strike 12 days ago, the only thing they have allowed themselves to ingest is water laced with honey and lemon, they said.

“We have checkups from doctors,” Zamora said. “They want us to stop. They say three days, it’s fine, but more than three days, it’s dangerous. We know the risk, but we want to continue until some results are done, until we get some results, until we raise awareness with the American people with this problem.”

Both men said while they have no desire to die, they will strike until they see change, even if that means death.

“It’s a very common question from people about this situation,” Altamirano said. “The thing is, Christianity is based on a carpenter that died for the brothers. I don’t know why people don’t get used to the idea that someone sacrificed for the will of others. I’m willing to do that.”

Zamora said he’s committed as well.

“When we see food, that’s the hardest part. When you see food, you want to eat. It’s hard for us when we smell food or see food, it’s hard. Your body feels like flying. Headaches. Dizziness. Also cramps. Sometimes cramps.”

Rich Pellegrino, director of the Cobb Immigrant Alliance, organized a press conference for the two on Tuesday, and sent out their list of demands to the media.

Pellegrino said the goal is to focus on reform “instead of the current enforcement-only, harsh approach endorsed by Arizona, Georgia, Alabama, and other incarceration-minded states.”

The Journal asked state Rep. Rich Golick (R-Smyrna), who was involved in helping to pass the immigration bill, what he thought about the strike.

“We are a nation of laws, and we do not apologize for standing up for the rule of law, because it is our sworn duty as well as the very foundation of our society,” Golick said. “Our new law in Georgia is not anti-immigrant: It’s anti-illegal immigrant.”

There is a significant difference between the anti-immigrant and anti-illegal immigrant that the Left never seems to acknowledge, Golick said.

“They simply refuse to accept the fact that our laws apply to everyone – including illegal aliens, no matter how long they have been here in violation of our laws,” he said. “We welcome legal immigrants to our communities, and we reject those who have the audacity to attempt to demonize those of us who simply seek to enforce our laws and to protect public resources from being used by those who are here illegally.”

Nope. Private party car sales are “as is”. The rule of law is “buyer beware”.

I have to ask, if you can prove the car was in bad condition when the seller bought it, why would you buy it?

of the ones I’ve seen, the ones I have a problem with even being nominated:

Johnny Depp for Finding Neverland–love him as an actor, but that movie wasn’t that great, and his performance, though good, was still one of his least impressive.

Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan–again, a good, solid performance, but not outstanding.

Russell Crowe’s performance in Gladiator wasn’t so much because it was difficult as it showed raw star power. His win was more about the difference between that role and his much more impressive turn in The Insider. There are a lot of these performances that are more about star power and charisma than they are about any real stretch as an actor (in particular Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman)

Kevin Costner for Dances With Wolves–great, epic movie. great direction (though a bit long). but just okay acting.

Question by bejabbers2003: I have a 56 inch JVC HD flat screen, 2 yrs. old. already had a tuner replaced. needs another one,,Lemon law?
Does the Lemon law apply to electronics? If this one is replaced and a yr. from now or whatever it goes out do I have any recourse to get my money back?.. It is under warranty, but that’s not the point, It is a pain in the neck to not be able to watch it, plus what about when warranty expires?..I’ll be stuck with repair costs.. I bought it from Video Only in Federal Way, Washington. those guys must be ex-car salesmen,,,out the door and they don’t even want to talk to you anymore…Anybody have any ideas on this? Is Lemon law a federal law? or strictly a state law? Does it apply only to defective automobiles? Thx. in advance…

Answer by TV TECH-manĀ®
You’re screwed….

Talk directly to JVC the manufacturer about your problem…

And I hope your parts came directly from JVC….most likely it’s the LEAD FREE solder that’s giving you all your problems over and over…..

I hate that stuff….brittle, cracks easily….THANKS GREEN-People, you took it just a LITTLE too FAR and now your TV sets SUFFER from Lead-Free solder!

Lemon Law for private auto sales?

Question by lisa425lisa: Lemon Law for private auto sales?
My car needs a new water pump I think because the temp gauge goes way up sometimes when I come to a stop.

I can’t afford to replace it since it might cost around 0. so I’ll need to sell it.

Do I have to tell the buyer of my car (if I choose to sell it) that I think it needs a new water pump? I live in Washington State and I know we do have lemon laws, but I think that only pertains to used car dealerships. Is that true?

Best answer:

Answer by Amy G
Regardless of the law – its not right to sell a vehicle to someone without telling them that it will need repairs. If for no other reason, karma.
