Question by Vincent V.: Does the California Lemon Law cover used salvaged cars?
I recently bought a salvaged car from a small dealership and it has been giving me transmission problems. I’ve already taken it to them twice to repair it and it still gives me the same problem. I want to know if I qualify for the lemon law. Please help. Thanks

Lemon laws were never designed to cover stuff from a junk yard. Anyone who would buy a salvage vehicle should be aware that “salvage” is just a nice way to say “junk”. It’s sort of like calling a garbage collector a “sanitation engineer”. Sounds fancy but doesn’t change the facts.

Question by RiverDale: What is the lemon law in California? What does it cover and for how long?
How does the lemon law work in protecting buyers in purchasing vehicles?

Answer by Go Broncos
Applies only to NEW vehicles. Must have been attempted to be repaired for the same problem 3 or more times in the first 12 months or 12000 miles of ownership. And problem can not be fixed. Or if you vehicle has been in repair for more than 30 days in the first 12 months or 12000 miles. What’s the problem?

Question by mousebirdcow: Lemon Law in California on a new 2008 altima Coupe?
Hi, I got my car 3 weeks ago and So far I have had 3 problems with it. 1-2 days after I bought my new altima coupe, I had tire pressure issues. I went to the service and got it repaired without a problem. Second time was last monday and I got a case where all the warning lights came on (abs, brake, tire pressure, service engine, etc) and I was getting a lot of warning messages on my otther screen. Along with that, my MPH was at 0 and would not move (in my opinion, this could be potentially dangerous because I would not know how fast I was going to control my speed). Today is Sunday and I got this same problem again; however the service department is closed today and it is labor day tomorrow so they told me that I had to wait until Tuesday to get my ccar fixed! I don’t know why my car is being all messed up when it is brand new and honestly I would like a refund.. but a new exchange for a car would be good. What can I do?

A tire repair is not a lemon-law problem and its far too early to be going that route with the other issue. Give them a chance to fix it first.

Question by kack318: California Lemon Laws for puppies?
We recently got a puppy from a pet store, please im tired of people ragging on me for it so please dont, and we noticed that the day after we got him, he wasnt right. It ended up that he had severe lobar pneumonia. We treated him right away, but it just kept getting worse. We ended up making a deal with the pet store that they would take him back and get him better, pay for him to get better then turn him back over to us when he was 100% healthy. A vet (that has a contract with the pet store) said he was 100% so we took him home. Its been a week and a half and we noticed that his nose was runny again so we took him in today. He is still sick!!!! We contacted the pet store and told them this and said the dog wasnt 100% that we think we should get a refund, they said no, talk to your attorney, we have already paid enough for him. I dont want to give them my dog but this doesnt seem fair! Does anybody know anything, laws, anything that could help us??

Keep track of medical bills. You can sue them in small claims court to recover the cost. Or go on Judge Judy, she’s a dog lover and she’ll probably rule in your favor just for that reason.

Usually, lawyers doing litigation work on a contingent fee basis. The lawyer gets 1/3 of whatever you are awarded in damages — that is a basic contingent fee arrangement. The lawyer only gets paid when you do.
The other side would be responsible for its own lawyer’s fees — probably on a hourly basis.

Question by rus_rob1: I heard one can become an attorney without law school, but only in California, please help me out?
Well I just graduated college (B.S. Communications with focus on professional writing) and will be moving to California.
I heard that you can become an attorney without going to law school, but only in the state of California. There is some type of exam you must take and pass…Anyone know any info about this? I am interested in becoming a lawyer, but I have a lot of school loans/debt and I cannot pay for law school. However, I am eager to learn and take the exams. I would like to work for myself and practice general law or become a lemon law attorney and help individuals who may have purchased a new car from a dealership and turns out to be a lemon.
Thanks for any info.

Not true you can become and attorney in any state as far as i know for example in my state of OK but you must pass the bar. 3 women did it here but its quite a challenge to pass the bar without law school. good luck with it
