Question by Kathleen K: Is there a Lemon Law in Florida?
My mother bought a car from a private seller on 8/8/2010. She paid 5. She’s had nothing but problems with it, and today the engine went. Does the lemon law apply to private deals, outside of dealerships? Also, the gentleman she purchased the car from has cars for sale in his yard often, I’ve counted 11 since my mother’s purchase; Isn’t there a law where you can only privately sell 4 or 5 cars a year without a special license, that he doens not have?

Question by Delores L: Do I have hire an attorney to move forward with the Florida Lemon Law procedure?
We purchased a 2009 Dodge Journey in April of 2008. Since then, we’ve been to the dealership for the same problem more than 3 times for the same electrical problem. Our 4th and final trip to the dealership was about 2 months ago and just last week, we had a reoccurance of one of the same problems and are ready to move forward with our Lemon Law rights. (We’ve already contacted Chrysler and notified them of the defect, and have given them their final attempt to repair.) Do we need an attorney? Has anyone had to put up with this headache of a situation? Please share if you have.
I’ve already visited the Attorney General’s website and picked up literature to help me understand the process. I would really just like insight from anyone who is very familiar with Lemon Law or experienced success or failure with it. Thanks for your help.
