06 jeep commander problems?

Tagged Under : , ,

Question by Amy: 06 jeep commander problems?
we bought an (automatic) 4wd 06 jeep commander about 4 months ago, and have been having transmission problems ever since we’ve bought it. the code comes up for the transmission control module and electronic shift module. its not shiftting right, and sometimes not at all.i’ve taken it in several times with no resolve. i have also talked to the dealer that sold it to us several times. it is JUST out of warranty, only has 37k miles on it. i have a V6 model. the 06 commander with V8 got recalled for the same problems, but the V6 has no recalls. so this car is basically a lemon, but being stationed (army)in louisiana, this state does not have lemon laws for used vehicles. (only new) i would open a case with the attorney general, but we are changing duty stations in a month and a half. (which we will be driving up to NY and its really not safe for us and our baby)
so my question is, anyone else own one that has the same problems with the TCM, and what should i do about it?
we traded in a month old 2010 corolla for this, payed about 22 for the corrolla they gave us 17 for trade in and the jeep cost 18, so we still owe like 17 on it. the light isnt on all the time, but it screws up all the time. i told my hubby not to buy it but he wanted something bigger, he’s just dumb and didnt listen. he’s away in training for the army for the next 2 months, so i have to do everything. btw, trade in value is about 6k less than what we owe.
i have taken it to a jeep dealership several times. they first they said it was something about the gasket not being sealed, so they did that. then we took it back and they found the code for the ESM, but they said they test drove it and couldn’t “duplicate the problem” so they just cleared the code and gave it back to me.

My NISSAN VERSA sucks!!! Any other owners having problems?

Question by meg_c83: My NISSAN VERSA sucks!!! Any other owners having problems?
In July I bought a 2007 Nissan Versa, and within 3 weeks it had been in for repairs 3 times, and since then its been in for an additional 2 problems. These problems are with sensors, I’ve have to have the evaporation flow canister replaced, the tire pressure monitor has come on 2 different times and its currently in repair for an air flow sensor, and my dealership called yesterday to say they were going to have to replace the Intake manifold, as the sensor had welded to that piece and they couldnt get it out.
I’m in RI and planning to contact someone about the Lemon Law, but in the meantime I was just curious is any other Versa owners have experienced any problems?
Let me know, Thanks!

Tire pressure light is federally mandated and if you keep the tire pressures over 29 psi the light should never come on. set the pressure at 34 psi.TPMS is on our cars because Ford Exploiers tires would come apart anf trucks would roll over. Next issue in the exhaust manifold is a air fuel ratio sensor and an oxygen sensor. Yes I have one now in the shop with the A-F sensor stuck in the exhaust manifold. Nissan Knows the problem part is on back order. Nissan is about the best in resolving customer problems of any make I have worked for.
Remember there may be several glitches with first year production cars. How well did your computer run when you installed “windows vista”. Most of my customers really like the size and 32 miles a gallon of there Versa’s and most have not encountered many problems. Give your dealer a chance to fix those problems you have not bought a LEMON.

Has anyone experienced brake issues with the 2011 Genesis? My problems seem unsolvable!?

Question by Ron: Has anyone experienced brake issues with the 2011 Genesis? My problems seem unsolvable!?
My much loved NEW Genesis is experiencing brake issues. In reverse, while both stepping and not stepping on the brake pedal, the car makes the loudest God awful screaching. I’ve had the car in four times for repair, and I thought the last repair took care of my problem, but alas, the screaching returned louder than ever. Hyundai keeps grinding the rotors and adjusting the pads-which obviously lessen the life of my brakes. I’ve filed with Hyundai the appropriate lemon law papers but haven’t heard from them (1.5 weeks past). The Attorney General was prompt and efficient in replying, but not hyundai. Very disappointing since this is my 5th Hyundai vehicle.

when i was a line tech at dealers ,we weren’t allowed to resurface any warranty part. not sure about hyundai, but something doesn’t sound right here. sounds like the brake shield behind the rotor may bent and dragging. it should be pretty simple to put the car on a lift and turn the wheels backwards to find the problem , but that shouldn’t be up to you

Lemon Law questions (AL/TN): 2005 dodge magnum rt transmission problems 4-5 repairs.?

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , ,

Question by peachy: Lemon Law questions (AL/TN): 2005 dodge magnum rt transmission problems 4-5 repairs.?
The 1st year after purchase it started having transmission problems. It would “shudder” whenever it gets in 3rd gear or higher. I would take it in, they would “re-adjust the computer” they’d say and it would be ok. I took it in once and they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it, but a month later the entire transmission crapped out and they had to replace a couple thousand dollars worth of parts in it. Its been maybe another year since that last major episode and now its back up to its old tricks, shuddering. All in all I’ve had it in for repairs atleast 4 times, maybe 5 (counting the one time they told me I’m imagining it and they did nothing).

Its coming up on 3 years of ownership, the warranty has expired, and the transmission is acting up again as mentioned. I’m tired of this and know I’m going to have to end up paying obscene costs of transmission work if I keep it. I’m interested in the Lemon law. From what I’ve read, it expires after 3 yrs since purchase (I have ~1.5months left till the 3yr mark). The car has low milage 28k and has been driven respectfully, it just shouldn’t keep giving me this headache.

I bought the care in AL and all repairs took place in AL. I have since moved to TN and haven’t had any problems until now.

1. I’m retarded and didn’t keep the repair work statements from the repairs over the years and am wondering if I call if they would mail them to me?
2. Should I just take it back in for repair and say examine it, I want my money back?
3. Should I try to obtain the repair records before I say I want the Lemon law enacted?(I wouldn’t think a proffessional organization, dodge, would touch records, but I’m just leary).
4. Should I try to get a lemon lawyer immediately? Or do I need the records first?

Any other advice would be appreciated.

If was sold As-Is then, you may very well be stuck with it. You should’ve had it checked out by a trusted mechanic first. Consider this incident a lesson learned.

When I bought my Honda Odyssey minivan in 2000 there were recalls issued by the dealer and all problems rectified. By the way, did they give you a loaner car to use while yours is still for repair. I am assuming that these repairs are under warranty, right?

Does the NY used car lemon law cover these problems?

Tagged Under : , , , ,

Question by I-Love-GM: Does the NY used car lemon law cover these problems?
First of all something is wrong with my brakes. Maybe the rotors. When I brake it’s kind of jerky and kind of pulses. Not in an ABS kind of way, as there isn’t a noise.

Also when I’m sitting there, I can smell gasoline pretty strong. What would that be? And would it be covered by lemon law? I’ve had it for less than a month
